This week we focused on the letters Aa and Oo. We talked about the sound they make and words that start with those letters. We came up with apple, astronaut, owl, opposites, and outdoors.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of astronauts. We traced and colored an astronaut page while we waited for our friends to get there. For morning centers, we made ten frames with moon rocks, colored our astronaut and flag for our astronaut craft, matched upper- and lower-case ABCs, and played a “Roll-a-Planet” game. In the afternoon, we painted our “moon” and colored a rocket color-by-number. For afternoon centers, we put togethers “stars”, played in an astronaut sensory bin, practiced tracing/writing our name, and finished our astronaut coloring. We also read books about astronauts and space.

On Wednesday, we focused on owls and opposites. In the morning, we started our specials rotation. Here we learned some Spanish, zoo phonics, science and sign language. For centers, we cut out our moon that we painted on Tuesday, matched opposite puzzles, worked on our ABCs with and owl theme, and worked on our fine motor with magnets. In the afternoon, we glued our astronaut craft together. At the end of the day, we painted a paper plate for an owl craft. We also talked and went over opposites.

On Thursday, we focused on “observing the outdoors”.  We worked on our names while we waited for our friends to arrive. For morning art, we used q-tips bunches to paint a fall tree. For centers, we counted with fall clip cards, put together fall tanagrams, practiced tracing/writing the letter Oo, and did a leaf push pin art. In the afternoon, we cut and pasted the Oo says /o/ page. At the end of the day, we finished our owl craft. We, also, read book about the fall.

Please continue to work with your child writing their name and cutting with scissors. We work on these skills throughout the week but extra help at home is great!!!!

Until next week,

Mrs. Brandi
