We had a great first week of school. The kids are doing awesome learning the routine of a full day. Every week, I will post on here what things we did throughout each day and also post on things that I see need to be worked on at home.

On Tuesday, we spent the day learning the routine. We started out the day in circle time. For morning centers, we put together snap cubes in the shape of numbers, used floam to make our ABCs, colored and wrote our name on a “This is Me on the First Day…” coloring sheet, and laced letters. For afternoon centers, we played and made thing with Brainflakes, matched shapes with tanagrams, colored a First Day coloring page, and put together word puzzles.  At the end of the day, we got to play with our friends by learning to share while Mrs. Brandi called us up to get our first day handprint. We had a great first day!!!!!

On Wednesday, we continued to learn the routine of a typical day. For morning centers, we rolled a die and put that many unifix cubes together in a tower, made our ABCs out of pop-its, drew ourselves by looking in a mirror, and made back-to-school objects out of snap cubes. For afternoon centers, we practiced tracing/writing our name, laced beads, played with geoboards, and matched upper- and lower-case ABCs with a back-to-school theme. At the end of the day, we colored our crayon name puzzles.

On Thursday, we talked about how great we are doing during our first week of school. For morning art, we followed directions and made a name pencil. For afternoon centers, we made patterns out of unifix cubes, cut out ovals and circles, rainbow wrote our names, and made patterns out of linking chains. At the end of the day, we all got to come to the front of the class and go over our “All About Me” pages.

As you can see, there is a lot going on during a full day of Pre-K. The kids were wiped by the end of the day, but they will get used to it. In a few weeks, they will be old pros!!!!

I will be sending home their names in a sheet protector. Please practice this at home with them by having them hold the marker with the correct grip. Also, work on using scissors at home. We do a lot of cutting in pre-k and they need to know how to work with scissors. You can get and old box and put your junk mail in there and a pair of scissors. Tell them they are only to use the scissors at the table with the box.

I will be setting up Group Me this weekend. This will be the way I can communicate with you throughout the year. I will try and post weekly updates and pictures on there that I take throughout the week. If you have not turned in the blue Group Me page, please do so soon.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Until next week,

Mrs. Brandi
