Hi Parents,
We had such a fun week! Our theme all week was ‘All About Me.’ Here is a snapshot of each day…
On Tuesday in morning centers the kids made numbers using pop its, they made shapes using cookie cutters in kinetic sand, they decorated the first letter of their name and found all of the letters in their name, and they practiced writing their names. In afternoon centers the kids built with magnet blocks and bristle blocks and drew themselves in the mirror. For our extra big room time the kids were able to play with toys. We ended the day by having ‘show and share.’ Each student came up in front of class and shared their ‘All about me page.’ They talked about their families, ages, and what they want to be when they grow up. It’s always fun to hear what the kids have to say!
On Wednesday in morning centers the kids used number wheels and marked the numbers with clothes pins, they cut and glued a back to school puzzle, they made their family with thumb prints, and they laced letters with string. In afternoon centers the kids did another activity with their names and the first letter of their name, they made shapes on Geo boards, and they cut and glued shapes. For art, the kids used stickers to make each letter of their name. We ended the day reading a book in our classroom.
On Thursday in morning centers the kids played a game with numbers. They had to draw a card with dots on it, count the dots, and then move to that number on the board. The kids also played with mini sand boxes, they said, spelled, built, and wrote their name, and they also worked on their monthly name writing and coloring page. In afternoon centers the kids used magna tiles with a medal planter box, they cut zig zags, they played with fidgets, and they traced, colored and cut ovals. We ended the day playing with toys in the foyer with Mrs. Brenda’s class.
In the next few weeks I’ll be sending home your child’s name in a plastic sleeve, along with a dry erase marker, so they can practice at home. If you can, please work on their names each night, it makes a huge difference!
Next week we will be talking about the letter M. Looking forward to it! **We will be eating muffins on Wednesday in class for ‘If you give a moose a muffin’ day.
As always, please reach out on GroupMe if you have any questions or concerns.
Take Care,
Missy
