Happy First Week of School! It was so nice getting to know your kids in our first All About Me Week 🙂
Tuesday was our first day of school. We started the day coloring the first day of school paper. We had play time and bathroom break. We did circle time and went over jobs, behavior charts, and calendar. In morning centers, we wrote our names for writing, talked about how many letters are in their names for phonics, counted with a counting caterpillar for math, and played in a sensory bin for our sensory center. We had our first lunch and recess. In afternoon centers, we wrote on writing boards for writing, practiced letters with Alpha Pops for phonics, counted with counting bears for math, and made our first day hand prints for our sensory center. We had another play time and then shared our All About Me pages. We ended the day playing outside and reading a story. The first day hand prints were sent home along with their first day coloring pages. We had a great first day of school!
Wednesday was All About Me day. We started the day writing our names in our quick kits. In morning centers, we looked into mirrors and drew selfies for writing, practiced beginning letter sounds for phonics, played with picture dominoes for math, and had fun with pop its for our sensory center. In afternoon centers, we started our All About Me books (name and age) and colored a family page. We practiced making patterns for math and lacing cards for our fine motor center. For our first Art class, we glued together shapes to make pencils and wrote our names on them. They are hanging in our hallway for everyone to see 🙂
Thursday was another All About Me day. We celebrated our first birthday, Happy Birthday Gryffin! We started the day playing with toys. In morning centers, we did our September writing and coloring sample and did another page of our all about me books (birthday and favorite color). We played with tangram puzzles for math and strung beads onto pipe cleaners for our fine motor center. In afternoon centers, we finished our all about me books (favorite food and what they want to be when they grow up) and cut those pages to make them into a book. We played with an alphabet train for phonics and made towers with blocks and number cards for our math center. We ended the day playing outside and reading a story. All About Me books went home along with name practice sheets. Please have your children practice writing their names at home!
Enjoy your weekend! See you next week for our Toy Story Week 🙂
