Hello! It was all about the letter Z this week! We talked about Zookeepers, Zebras, and Zippers!
Tuesday was Z is for Zookeeper. We did a creative writing – writing what our favorite animal is, we made a lions face, put zoo animals in order biggest to smallest, counted chain links to make a monkey swing, and built zoo cages with playdoh and popsicle sticks. Using our pattern skills we made a giraffe, all of our zoo animals are hanging in the hall!
On Tuesday we also stuffed our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child! Such a good lesson in giving! Thank you all for your donations!
On Wednesday we focused on Zeke the Zebra from ZooPhonics. In our centers we started our Zebra craft by painting black stripes, cut/glue a zebra counting worksheet, matched numbered animal tracks to the animal that made them, practiced writing the letter Z and Z words on the white board, and put peeler beads on the letter Z.
On Wednesday we had specials where we had a lesson in phonics, Spanish, and Sign Language. We also saw a Science experiment- mixing vinegar and baking soda to blow up a balloon.
We went on a zoo animal scavenger hunt in The big room, and cut/glue a puzzle to find a Zebra.
Thursday was zig zag lines and Zippers!
in our centers we finished our zebras which are hanging in the hall with the rest of our zoo animals. Used water color to paint inside zig zag lines, dry erase traced numbers, rolled a die and moved a car along a zig zag line matching numbers trying to make it to the end, and made letter zs on rubber band boards.
In the afternoon we did a hand painting project and traced/cut/glue our z sounds sheet. We also practiced zipping coats before we went home.
Sometimes it amazes me how much we pack into 3 days!! We had a busy week!
Next week we start the Letter T, just in time for Thanksgiving!!
Have a great weekend!
