Hello! Welcome to Dr Seuss and Letter E week!
Tuesday was Seuss Day! In our centers we did a rhyming words worksheet, made a Thing 1 hat, made a patterned Dr Seuss hat, used red solo cups and white squares to make Seuss towers, and filled a fish bowl with fish stickers using dice to count. In the afternoon we did a crazy socks project and play tic tac toe with Dr Seuss pieces. We also played a game where the kids had to guess what was in my Seuss hat with out looking just touching!
Wednesday was E is for Elephant. In our centers we made a handprint elephant, colored a brick wall for egg day, followed a maze by finding #s 17 & 18, made the letter E on writing tablets, made the letter E out of chain links.
On Wednesday we had specials with a short lesson in Phonics, Spanish and sign language. For science we did an egg project “How can you get a hard boiled egg in the glass (Frappuccino) jar without making a mess? It’s a hit or miss experiment- drop a lit match inside the jar and place the egg on top. It’s supposed to vacuum pull the egg inside.
In the afternoon we did a Dr Seuss write the room and recorded our predictions for our “egg-speriments” on Thursday.
Thursday was E is for egg. In our centers we colored/cut and pieced together an egg on our Brick wall (Humpty Dumpty), Did our E sounds worksheet, traced and found the Letter E quick kit, found our last name and wrote it on a white board, made unifix cube towers on a numbered egg mat.
In the afternoon we sponge painted Elmer the Elephant. In the afternoon we met up with the other all day classes and got to see if our predictions were correct, we put eggs in ziplock bags with rocks, cotton balls, paper towels, paper clips, shaving cream, and tin foil. We then dropped the ziplock bag to see which would protect our eggs. The only egg that stayed intact was the egg wrapped several times in tin foil. The kids loved this!
Next week we move onto Letter U…I hope you all have a great weekend!
