Week 3, Our first letter of the school year! This week was all about the letter Aa.
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were days of us learning about the Letter Aa and apples and boy did we have fun! Some of centers included, sorting uppercase and lowercase letter Aa’s, using quick kits to practice correct letter formation, creating letters A and M out of playdoh, and cutting out and gluing pictures of things starting with the letter A. On Wednesday we got to also do an apple tasting. Most of the class really enjoyed all three apples, the red, yellow and green. The red was the most liked, and the green being the least liked. We also read multiple books this week to drive home our letter |A theme. Peppa Pig Goes to Space was a big hit along with, The Adventures of Abby Alligator and Ten Apples Up on Top.
Thursday for ABC Astronaut Day, we counted moon rocks in tens frames, painted a moon during art, and for the first time, completed a pattern worksheet. I am super impressed with how quickly they caught on to the concept of finishing a pattern. The big hit center for today was probably my sensory bin. This had kinetic sand, glow in the dark planets, moon stones, and stars.
Next week we start our letter Mm week. Just a reminder we will also be eating muffins on Wednesday so if anyone should not be eating that with us, please let me know.
