This week started off with Beach Day!  It was a great way to beat the winter blues.  The kids came to school dressed for the beach.  They played with sand, a water table, ocean animals in the blocks and an ice cream stand.  Water color painting was set up for art and the math work sheet was beach themed.  At the end of the day the class stretched out on beach towels and enjoyed ice pops!  They were delicious and everyone enjoyed them!!

On Tuesday, the class got back to work focusing on the letter “D”.  The playdoh table was a dentist office, we played a math cavity game, read a story about Llama’s loose tooth, and played with dinosaurs in the blocks.  The class really enjoyed telling me stories of their experiences with going to the dentist.

On Wednesday, “D” was for dinosaurs.  The class did dinosaur math, dug in the sand for dinosaurs, wrote the letter D (I am keeping it for their portfolios) and heard two Harold and the Purple Crayon books.  The second one was about Harold’s adventure with dinosaurs.  The children did a Harold and the Purple Crayon drawing at the art center.  We have added several end of the day games to our repertoire.  Their new favorite is letter find.  Each child gets a capital letter and the lower case letters are hidden around the room – they need to find the match and hurry back to circle!

On Thursday, we ended the week with a dinosaur name project  and a dinosaur math sheet (both I am saving for their portfolios).

It was a fun and busy week!!
