Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday season and enjoyed the time off.

We started school back up learning about the letter Ww. Monday and Tuesday we focused on welcoming back the kids and getting back into our routine. I kept the centers pretty easy with some fine motor work, name writing, and a fun write the room to get them up and moving. For this write the room, the kids had to find all the winter objects around the room and write down the word on that card. They are getting so good at letter formation, I was really happy with their progress.

Wednesday we started specials up again. We took a break during December to give us all time to finish ornaments but we’re back in the swing of it now. The kids are continuing to learn more Spanish, sign language, science, and zoo phonics. For centers, we used to letter Ww for Winter Wonderland. For math we counted and graphed winter images along with some winter fun with playdoh. They also got to turn their hand tracing into a winter craft with a polar bear, ice burg, and snowflakes. We cant wait for you to see them.

Thursday was Watermelon Day… pretend of course 🙂

The class cut out some W’s turning them into a watermelon, used watermelon seeds for counting, and for matching upper and lower case letters. For the math center each kid picked a number and had to write that number on their watermelon. Then they had to put that many watermelon seeds on it as well. Our literacy center was matching upper and lower case letters. They got to pick a watermelon seed with an uppercase letter on it and find the matching lowercase on their card.

We had a really good behavior week as well. They came back from break ready to work to make this last part of the year spectacular!!

Next week we learn about the letter Ii.
