“T” is for Thanksgiving and Thanks!

This week we spent time talking about what is Thanksgiving, what are we thankful for, and who are we going to celebrate Thanksgiving with this year.  We talked about Thanksgiving food, grouped dinner foods and, desserts and discussed what liked the best!

We learned two new games this week:  Candy Land and Number Bingo.  Number Bingo was an easier version of Bingo.  The children had to recognize numbers 1 – 20.  I realized quickly that they enjoy playing games much more than doing flash card so I am in the process of making ABC Bingo!

This week the children made thankful placemats. turkey handprints, and did a pumpkin pie craft.

Because the weather was so nice, we went outside everyday.  After reading the story Stone Soup, the children decided to make food out of stones on the playground.  It is a lot of fun watching them work together and use their imagination.

Looking Ahead:  The Thanksgiving Party is on Monday at 9:15AM.  If children stay after the party we will play board games in the classroom parents are welcome to join us!  There is not school on Wednesday or Thursday.  My husband and I are excited to have a house full.  All three of our boys as well as our two daughter-in-laws and our grandson will be with us for the week!
