Let it snow! Crazy weather this week. The kids were all very excited by the snow (and a bunny hopping in the snow on the playground). I promised the class two items from the treasure box if it snowed but our game of BINGO ran long so they will get the treasure box items on Monday – before the party .
The theme this week was “T” is for tree.
We made fall trees using makers and a spray bottle. The class really enjoyed this activity. During circle we read a different book about trees each day gradually transitioning to the Evergreen tree/Christmas tree. The Littlest Evergreen is a story about a tree’s journey from forest to Christmas tree. The story ends with the tree getting planted in the backyard for the family to enjoy.
The children made several projects this week that I can not tell about due to upcoming holiday gifts but trees were the theme of all of them.
The class also enjoyed creating fall necklaces. I was very impressed because all the children wrote their names on the tape holding the string to the table without help or being asked to do it! They are becoming very self sufficient. I strongly encourage the children to pack their folders and bags without help. They are also able to do the art projects with limited help or guidance.
Instead of letter writing this week the children wrote the word tree.
For our number writing activity this week the children wrote out numbers 1 to 10.
We ended each day with either letter or number BINGO.
Have a great weekend. My son arrives tomorrow. I will be leaving early Tuesday to pick my parents up from the airport and My oldest and his wife arrive Wednesday.
Happy Thanksgiving early!
