The fantastic letter Ff.
Tuesday and Wednesday were all about the ABC farm! As a school we each pick out something you find on a farm and make it out of the kids handprint or footprint. We did sheep and they turned out adorable! For letter recognition we used tractor wheels to match upper and lowercase letter, and used popsicle sticks to make farm fence patterns. For math we had corn stalks with numbers and the kids put that many corn kernels on each stalk. I have to say this is one of my best classes as far as counting and number recognition!
Thursday we had a frog theme for letter Ff. This was our first of many directed drawings. I do a few of these throughout the year, where I draw a picture step by step and they follow along. The frogs were all made by drawings circles or ovals in different sizes. The class also used frogs to help with letter recognition. I placed all the letters of the alphabet on the floor and had jumping frogs for each kid. They made the frog jump and had to identify the letter it landed on . Then for math they also had to match up lily pads to the amount of flies the frog needed to eat .
Another great week in the books! Next up letter Pp
