“P” is for pumpkin!

This week was all about pumpkins.  We read some great stories about pumpkins including Big Pumpkin and Pumpkin Jack. The class also learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin from seed to  flower to pumpkin.

On Monday, we carved open a pumpkin, cleaned up the seeds and gave the pumpkin a face.  The class cut out square pumpkins and practiced their handwriting by writing the word pumpkin.  They also made October bead necklaces which was such a favorite activity some children choose to do it again on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the class practiced writing the letter P.  They painted mini pumpkins and counted pumpkin seeds.  They used the pumpkin seeds to decorate their square pumpkins (they were told to count out and use 6 seeds however a few kids asked permission for a few more!)

On Wednesday, we had Mrs. Tiffany’s sons come in and help.  They assisted the class with their math sheets and making crayon resist pumpkins.

On Thursday, the weather cooperated and everyone had a great time at the pumpkin patch.

On a special note the class welcomed a new student, Logan.  There are now 10 students in the class

Looking ahead:  I will be out of town on Monday but Mrs. Tiffany has a fun day planned – “O” is for owl.

Have a great weekend.
