This week went by quick and I think the weeks leading up to winter break are just going to fly by! Our focus was the letter Pp this week in our centers. We had some extras this week to make it a fun one for the kids.
Monday – We had the Lake Hills Fire Department come and talk to the kids and they also got a tour of a fire truck and all the gadgets on it. I think they all enjoyed this and that they got a hat and coloring book to go home as well. The kids also got mini pumpkins they got to put sticker faces on to take home. They started the day with a fire color page. We also prepped our pizzas for our pretend pizza party on Tuesday.
Tuesday – Pizza central in all our centers today. The kids pasted on their shapes they chose for their pizza, completed an upper/lower case letter match with pizza slices and whole pizzas, finished a pizza count/cut/paste activity and lastly a pizza shape matching cut/paste/color sheet. The kids started the day with a P is for pizza sheet. We also practiced tracing some Pp’s.
Wednesday – Continuing with our P themes for the week, we created our Zoophonics PeeWee the Penguin all together as an entire class. Once we finished making our PeeWees we completed a pumpkin shape color and graphing activity. We will do more pages like this throughout the year, and they did well for the first time. We instructed the kids to color certain shapes a color and then went over the graphing part together. We also had Chapel today at the end of class. The book we got to today was Duck, Duck, Dinosaur Perfect Pumpkin.
Thursday – Probably the kids’ favorite day this week…pajamas and popcorn while watching Spookley the Square Pumpkin. Kids enjoyed the snack and movie. We read two books today Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree and Curious George Haunted Halloween. The classes started their day with a pumpkin color page.
Friday – PUMPKIN PATCH!!!
We have been reviewing all our letters we have covered so far and their sounds. Please ask and review with your child the letters/sounds we have had so far…Aa, Mm, Rr, Ff, and Pp. They may make the Zoophonics animal and do the sound with it, even better if they do!
Monday is our Harvest/Halloween parties! AM class is 9:15-10am and PM class is 12:30-1:15pm. Information was sent home and the kids can wear their costumes to school. Any candy they get will be sent home and NONE will be eaten at school.
