We have made it into November and are cruising along! We covered the letter Zz this week with all our centers, books and activities.

Monday – Students started the day with a Z is for Zoo page. The book read was Goodnight Gorilla that went along with one of our centers, creating a retell wheel. The students colored the animals mentioned in the book and then cut out the wheels and used the brad fastener to turn it into a wheel. The kids enjoyed spinning the wheel and retelling the story. We also completed a zebra zoo page puzzle. The kids cut out the puzzle pieces and then glued them into the correct spots. The other book read was Put Me In the Zoo.

Tuesday – We had lots of students wear animal print/animal clothes to school today. The books read today were There’s An Animal Strike at the Zoo and My School is a Zoo. The centers we completed today were: Zz line tracing in QKs, ½ page of Zz writing practice with some guidance as to where to start, pattern animal page that we cut/paste/colored, and we created our own patterns with small connecting blocks and also sorted bears by color, size and shape.

Wednesday – Our zebra day started with a Z is for Zebra coloring page. We also created our own Zeke the Zebra to go along with our Zoophonics lessons. As a class we completed the Z sound page, where we said the picture aloud and had the students color the pictures that had the beginning sound of Zz. The books read today were The Underpants Zoo and Pinkalicious and the Pinkatastic Zoo Day. We also went to chapel at the end of the day today and heard all about Operation Christmas Shoebox, which we will be packing up on Monday!

Thursday – ZigZag day included coloring the zigzag hair on our kid and then practicing our zigzag cuts. We also had an All About Z page that included different items, writing/Zz sound/ Zz letter find and cut/paste/color the Zz items. The book was Zoo borns, which talks about all kinds of baby animals born at zoos.

This coming Monday we will be packing our shoeboxes and we will discuss more about where these boxes are headed and who they are going to. We will begin covering the letter Nn and have some fun things planned these weeks leading up the holiday season!
