This week we covered letter Ff and had some fun days!
Monday: Picture day and Firefighter Fun – Start up activity was a F is for firefighter color/trace the letter. We also completed a farm following directions activity. This will also be done at the end of the school year to check for growth in coloring and listening skills. Lastly, we completed a color by number fish. We didn’t want to do anything messy with our picture outfits. Also, our day was a little shortened in the class with our firefighter visit which the kids enjoyed! The book today was Pete the Cat Firefighter Pete.
Tuesday: Friends with Froggy – We started with our name practice in QKs. (PRACTICE at home having your child write their name, we need work on this!) Our centers included completing fall patterns, practicing writing our Ff’s in QKs, a letter F color page, and coloring and cutting out our monthly shape/square. We also drew our own frogs by following step by step instruction and cut out a lily pad and flower. The books today were Froggy Learns to Swim and Froggy Goes to Bed.
Wednesday: Down on the Farm – Students completed a scarecrow color page at start up. We also had specials today, which the kids enjoyed all 4 stops! Centers today were using a hole punch to make holes in a bookmark, a pumpkin/seed uppercase lowercase letter match, square shape hunt and tracing numbers 1-10 in QKs. The books were Frog on a Log and There was an old lady who swallowed Fly Guy.
Thursday: Fantastic First Names – Start up was prep time for our Francy the Fish. Students got all their pieces cut out to construct their fish later in class. We also completed our name writing and uppercase letter page and cut and pasted our own skeletons! The books were Little Critter I Just Forgot and There was a coyote who swallowed a Flea.
Next week is only 3 days with our pumpkin patch field trip on Thursday. Information will be going home next week with more details!
Fine motor skills are key at this age to make progress in writing, coloring, and cutting skills. If you need ideas or suggestions please let me know.
